The North American Green Zone

In a nature program, a slug lived in an ant colony. Somehow, the ants never detected it as a threat and tended to it. However, the slug ended up eating the ant eggs.

I think of this when I view the current American Administration. They look like, act like, talk like Americans but are not really. They are a foreign force that has taken occupation of the Government. The White House is the North American Green Zone. Unlike the one in Iraq, it is not viewed as an outside force. They do hole in and have a protective barrier around the White House. Machine gun sharpshooters guide it against ... us? Who are the foreigners - the Neocons and the International Corporations.

Does this sound too far-fetched? Consider my arguments below:

1. The National Debt. This Administration has driven the country into serious national debt that will take decades to get out of. The treasury is being siphoned off into Halliburton, the Big Sisters of the oil industry, etal. They keep screaming, "The Democrats want to tax and spend, tax and spend." The way they run it, they just spend and spend.

One of the avowed and cynically effective efforts of this Administration is to "privatize" the government. Privateering is more like it. The waste and inefficiency and theft is beyond comprehension. See John Tower's articles and The Nation, etal for details. Not only do these companies and individuals take all the money, they give nothing in return. This Administration's era can be deemed "The Looting of America." Steal and steal and steal. The problem they are having is that they can't steal the nation's wealth fast enough. While a certain amount of corruption and cronyism exists in any government whereby parties skim off the top, this Administration and its friends don't skim off the top, they take it all. In Iraq, a couple of business partners took around $180 million to build a new Iraq airport. None was ever built.

2. The War in Iraq. It is pretty obvious that the war to invade Iraq was planned way before 9/11 (9/11! 9/11! 9/11!). In the Neocons blueprint, The New American Century, they listed taking over Iraq as one of the first items.

It can be argued that governments have a great affinity towards war. Someone has to like war. If everyone genuinely believed peace was so precious, they wouldn't wage war. Great profits are to gotten through war. The Defense Industry rakes in billions. One of the Rothschilds said, "When there's blood in the streets, there's money to be made." The ultimate justification for any government is to defend its people against outside enemies. For that, the nation will write blank checks and give their young men and women to the military. The legislature and public will stand behind the government's choice to go to war. To oppose the war can be used as evidence of not supporting the government. The ultimate failure of any government is to lose a war. To lose means to fail in the primary purpose. However, countries and governments do continue, albeit in lesser regard. In every war, someone has to lose and someone has to win.

Contrary to all common sense and the opinions of politicians, the public and even now the military, the President, instead of backing out of Iraq, chose to surge the effort. The National Treasury, Defense and country are more and more against the war. When the generals come out against the Administration, it has to be bad. Why does this Administration continue? They don't care about the US. It is only the cash register and source of manpower for the Neocons and Corporation.

In most wars, the country does pay but also reaps some of the rewards of the war. Not in Iraq. The American people pay and pay and get nothing in return. All the benefits go to the corporations and the empire builders. Right after the victory in Iraq, the US flew back the Iraqi government's frozen cash reserves back to Iraq. When it arrived, it was stuffed into sacks of the war profiteers and never seen again by the public.

3. The End of America as the World Leader. In the book, The Rise and Fall of the Great Empires, the author provides evidence for the success and ultimate failure of empires. The primary foundation of every empire and military is a strong domestic economy. The National Debt has destroyed the government's funds. The corporations downsizing and relocating manufacturing to foreign shores have decimated the American economy. We are fast becoming an underdeveloped (undeveloped?) nation. We ship out raw materials and import manufactured goods. It is near impossible to buy anything made in this country. The cash flows out and out and out. Declare war against a major foe? Not likely. Hell, we couldn't even make our own uniforms. The only viable American industry is defense.

Wave goodbye to the free country and democracy of America. Welcome to the Neocon Corporate Empire.
